Have you found that your iPhone battery life seems to be getting shorter and shorter very quickly? Here’s why – and what you can do about it
Anyone running IOS 4 on their iPhone also gained the ability to multi-task on their phone. However, it also keeps any app that you’ve accessed open in the background – and in your RAM memory. If you’ve got an iPhone 3 or 3GS, you’ve only got half the RAM of an iPhone 4 to start with – twice the problem.
Fortunately there’s a simple way to deal with this. Here’s how you close apps you are not using.
Step 1: Push the home button twice quickly. This will bring up the multi-task bar which shows all of the apps running in the background on your device. Just swipe right to left with your finger and you will see all the apps you have open. If you haven’t done this before, you’ll be amazed at how many are open!
Step 2: Push and hold down your finger on one of the application icons. The applications will start to wobble just like when you re-arrange applications on the home screen. Also a minus sign will appear on the upper left hand corner of the application icons.
Step 3: If you push on one of the minus signs of an application, the app will be terminated and will no longer run in the background. Terminate all the applications that you want and push the home button to return your device to the home screen without lots of applications running in the background. Now, enjoy much longer battery life!
